Maaten Ltd ("Maaten", "we", "us") uses very little in the way of cookies or similar technology on maaten.com. This page explains what we do use, why, and how to control it, in line with the UK's Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) and UK GDPR.
Maaten Ltd is a company registered in Scotland, based in Edinburgh, United Kingdom. For any question about this policy, contact hello@maaten.com.
A cookie is a small text file placed on your device by a website. Sites also use similar technologies, such as pixels, local storage and beacons, for the same purposes: remembering you, or measuring how a site is used. Under PECR, most non-essential cookies need your consent before they're set.
maaten.com is a static marketing website. It does not use accounts, logins or shopping carts on the pages you're browsing now, so it does not set any strictly-necessary session cookies. (The Maaten product itself, once you're a customer, uses essential session cookies to keep you signed in; those are covered by your customer agreement, not this page.)
Some pages load a small first-party script (maaten-track.js) that records basic, anonymous usage events, such as a page view or a click on a "Book a demo" button, in your browser's memory for the current visit only. It does not:
The events exist only in memory while you have the page open, and are discarded when you navigate away or close the tab. If we later switch on a real analytics endpoint, that data point is beaconed directly to our own infrastructure, still without a cookie. Because nothing is stored on your device, this doesn't require consent under PECR, but we're telling you about it anyway.
Some pages link out to WhatsApp ("Ask Maaten") and to our chosen video host for product demo clips. Following one of these links may set its own cookies once you land on that third party's site; that's covered by their policy, not ours. We do not embed third-party analytics, advertising or social-media tracking pixels on maaten.com.
If we introduce cookie-based analytics, advertising pixels, or any other non-essential tracking (for example Google Analytics or a LinkedIn or Meta ad pixel), we will add a cookie-consent banner and ask for your permission before anything is set, as PECR requires. This policy will be updated first.
Because we don't set non-essential cookies today, there's nothing to opt out of on this site. If that changes, you'll always be able to withdraw consent as easily as you gave it. In the meantime, you can control cookies generally through your browser settings, including blocking them entirely or clearing existing ones. Blocking all cookies may affect other websites you visit.
We may update this policy as the website changes. Material changes will be posted here with a revised date.
